Hi! So I guess the hype is already over... But unsurprisingly, being the creative soul that I am, I too kept a Bullet Journal for a good while!
A Bullet Journal is a notebook, but instead of lines or squares, the pages are filled with a dotted grid. You can use is to keep a journal, track habits, set goals, make lists... The possibilities are endless!
In this article, I am just going to show you some things I made in my Bullet Journal, to hopefully inspire you to get creative as well!
If you're like me and you want to keep your weekly planner in your Bullet Journal, you can create something like this:
This is actually one of the first weekly layouts that I created in my Bullet Journal. But as I got better, I wanted to do much more with my weekly overview so I thought of a way to make the weekly layout more compact so that I could fit some other trackers on the same page:
So here I graphed my eating habits in the top right corner. On the other pages I graphed other things, like a habit tracker and a sleep log (will explain to you what those are in a sec!). This was a pretty nice layout since it only took 8 pages for all my graphs for the entire month. Whereas normally, your weekly journal is already 8 pages long by itself, and all your monthly graphs take up the pages after that.
So I promised to tell you what a habit tracker was... The pictures above are examples of habit trackers. Well, actually it's the same one, but on the left it's empty, and on the right's it's filled in. A habit tracker is meant for you to keep track of your daily activities. So I kept track of waking up at a decent time, eating vegetarian (that usually goes very well, I'm surprised it didn't here! Haha), eating fruits, how many days I worked out, etc. But it can really be anything YOU want to keep track of.
Ah, here the vegetarian days are way better :) No I actually wanted to show you my favorite tracker I ever made. It is so satisfying to look at.... The colors are so pretty and the tracker just works so well. Pretty smart actually, these kind of trackers motivate you to stick to your healthy habits, because you want to have a nice looking graph at the end of the month.
Then the next most popular thing for Bullet Journalers to keep track of... SLEEP!
This is my standard sleep tracker. You cannot see it very well here, but after coloring in the amount of sleep I had, I plotted the hours of sleep I had in the graph underneath. This looks really cool and it motivates you to sleep at decent times. 10/10 recommend.
So the picture above is a "Daily Log". This is where I used to write a sentence or two, every day, of what I did that day. It's kind of a mini-diary and it looks really nice at the end of the month.. And it's fun to read back!
Since I was on a diet, I liked to keep track of my food intake. So just in case you wanted some inspiration on how I kept track of it... See the picture above :) It worked really well since the breakfast, lunch, dinner AND calorie intake are on the same line for each day, and this filled up exactly one and a half page in my Bullet Journal... Which meant that I could use the half page I had left to plot my calorie intake against my weight... To see how that turned out.... Go watch the video!
Another lovely graph is "Mood in Pixels". Explaining the legend: Red is the most happy ("a warm feeling") and blue is the saddest ("feeling blue"). If you have the commitment to fill in your mood every day, for an entire year... This graph is awesome for you. Because at the end of the year, you can see your mood over a year. That would be pretty epic. I couldn't do it unfortunately.. Maybe one day :)
Then one of my favorite trackers: A Birthday Tracker! I blurred out all the birthdays I had written down for people's privacy. But you get the idea.
Travelers out there? ;) Here is a map to track where you've traveled to in the US. I also have a map like this for Europe... Don't have a picture of it, but there I just printed out a "blank" map of Europe, and I would color in every country I had been to. I didn't print out the whole world in one map for a very good reason; all the European countries would be too small compared to the bigger countries... and coloring them in wouldn't be as much fun.
Okeeeey, just ONE more! Here you see a "Movie Tracker". I like this tracker because it looks like those old school cinema tickets.. The idea is simple, every time I went to the cinema I would write down the name of the movie, and for the "Ticket Number" on the sides, I would write the date like "dd/mm/yy".
There is pleeeenty more where this came from! But this is all for now. I hope you liked this article about my Bullet Journal, and feel free to ask any questions (or send me some of your creations!) on my socials: @niektravels.
PS. I made a Flip Through-video on YouTube, which will be released shortly. There will be more examples of trackers, and you will also get to see some of the trackers in this article completely filled in!
